I have known this lovely mama-to-be and her husband for years as they used to be old neighbours of mine when I lived in Mission. Then last year, we reconnected when they visited my display at the Mums, Tums, & Baby show at the Tradex in Abbotsford. We laughed and chatted about our love of IPA beer, and mama lamented about how she couldn’t enjoy any delicious beverages because of, well, obvious reasons. Hee hee. Then we talked about their pregnancy and I heard how this baby was difficult to conceive, and so very wanted. This baby was carried for 9 months with nothing but love and eager anticipation of what was to come. And of course, mixed with a little heart ache that healed because of the love for an unborn child.
This is what I love about photography. I connect with people, hear their amazing stories, and then celebrate with them in the form of beautiful art. I strive to capture their story, their love and their joy! Photography can be a very intimate experience where raw emotions are felt from clients. There is often laughter and silliness, but there are sometime tears of joy as clients reflect on their journey to get where they are. But this session was about celebration! The lighting was perfect in my Abbotsford studio and we played with a variety of colourful fabric focussing on the artistic flair of a moody black backdrop. I LOVE working with this black backdrop and I get so excited when clients request it!
It was wonderful to be behind the camera and honour the love between these two. I couldn’t wait to meet their baby boy a few weeks later and to celebrate that he was finally here!!!!! From Belly Love to Baby Love.
