This little guy came to WIDE awake and stayed wide awake for most of his newborn session in my Abbotsford studio. He was quite content to simply look up at me and stare with his big bright eyes. It was as if he didn’t want to miss a minute in this world!
There is something incredibly powerful about newborns who make eye contact with the camera because it creates striking images! Particularly, black and white images are the most striking with baby eye contact. I find babies are the most content that when wrapped, especially when they are wide awake. And then I can photograph them a lot easier than if they have their little hands and feet waving around. However, some babies do not like to be wrapped no matter what. In those cases, I always watch to see what the baby wants and then I do whatever I can to make them comfortable. Baby comfort and safety is of primary importance in every one of my newborn sessions.
