I went to nursing school with this mama many many years ago! (We won’t say how many years ago for fear of dating myself 😉 Lol. So I instantly smiled when she called me for a session at the Mission bridge (Matsqui Trail Regional Park). She had since been married and had her son, and a 16 year old dog, Charlie. She wanted a family shoot with a focus on their dog because she didn’t know how much longer Charlie would be with them. I loved the fact that they wanted to honour their beloved pet, because I absolutely believe pets are part of the family. So off we went, hoping the weather would cooperate with us and the rain would hold off. Because in BC, our weather can be totally crazy and unpredictable sometimes. Well, most of the time. Hahahaha.
The leaves were still on the ground which made us all so happy, including the little dude, who loved throwing leaves in the air. We laughed like old times, and I got to get a sneak peak into her beautiful new life. I find it is so wonderful to see your friends flourish as they “grow up.” I’m not sure that anyone ever fully grows up, but having a family certainly brings new meaning (and responsibility) to the human existence. I recall hearing my late grandmother saying no matter how old you are, your mind stays as young as ever. And she lived to a ripe old age in her 90’s! Perhaps there’s something to her words of wisdom! There’s your food for thought. *grin*
What a gorgeous family, what a gorgeous life. I am beyond happy for her. It was so lovely to catch up with an old friend and photograph the loves of her life!
